Ohsumi Health & Wellness Retreat

This retreat is run by Ohsumi Renaissance Association (ORA), founded and headed by Osamu (Sam) Aridome, native of Koyama Town, and is a product of his long seach for his mission in life.After having spent many years abroad, including the U.S., the

U. K., and China, as journalist, photographer, and entrepreneur, Sam had several occasions to re-visit and re-examine his native town two years ago due to his mother's illness. He says that it was probably the first time that he took a very careful look at what his hometown really looked like since leaving it. What he found, to his surprise, was a place full of natural beauties, life-enhancing products, rich history and traditions, and, most of all, good-hearted people. Ohsumi, a peninsula located in the south of Kyushu Island of Japan, has virtually been unknown to the outside world for a long time ? despite its beautiful landscape and plentiful natural diets - essential ingredients for healthy living. Sam believed that people visitng would find Ohsumi an excellent place to open themselves to nature's health-enhancing and healing powers. So he decided to introduce Ohsumi to the outside world as one of "Japan's undiscovered treasures" .
