Non-religious – Open Spirituality
Founded in 1937 in Karachi, the Brahma Kumaris University is an international organization working at all levels of society for positive change. The University carries out a wide range of educational programmes for the development of human and spiritual values through its 3,000 branches in 62 countries. It is a non-governmental organization affiliated to the United Nations department of Public Information and recipient of seven UN Peace Messenger Awards. Courses, workshops, seminars and conferences covering a wide range of topics are on offer including self-development, stress-free living, and self-management, creating inner freedom, soul care, women’s development, and meditation. Activities are held at all levels of the community to help people cope more positively with everyday living and to find greater harmony within themselves and their relationships. All courses, events and activities are free of charge. The University operates the World Global Retreat Centre at Nuneham Courtney near Oxford (see Oxfordshire entry.) and Inner Space, an information Centre at 528 High Road, Wembley, Middlesex HA9 7BS, England.
