Buddhist
The Centre is located in a very large and beautiful Georgian country mansion built in 1784. Its aim is to preserve and promote the teachings and traditions of Buddhism. There is a large Community here, ranging in age from 20 to 70 years, who regard this as their home. Some are ordained and all of them work and study together. Many are Buddhist teachers. There are group discussions, weekend and day courses throughout the year, plus a summer school. Other centres are in Bath, Buxton, and Ulverston. Some of the retreat courses have great titles – such as The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Mind and Stop the Week and others are more the kind one expects in such a place like Meditation for Beginners, Path to Inner Peace, and Prayers for World Peace. Madhyamaka Buddhist Centre is a serious spirituality place and courses are offered for beginners and those who are able to do more in-depth exploration of the teachings and meditation.
