Non-Religious – Universal Spirituality

J. Krishnamurti, who was born in India and died in the United States in 1986, was a universal man whose major contribution to 20th century thought, many say, was in questioning the basis upon which we make our judgments and that this mis-interpretation of our reality causes us much unhappiness. He believed truth to be a pathless land. The centre is intended for the serious study of his teachings. It is for people who would like for a few days to be in a quiet environment where they can devote their full attention to his teachings and the implications for their own lives. There is an excellent library on his work with video and audio tapes and other records. The Centre offers themed weekends and study retreats. The subjects of these are often as follows, based on the Krishnamurti 's writing. Does Life have a Meaning? What is Meditation?, Conflict and Co-operation, What is the Self?, Transformation of Man, What is Freedom, and What is a Religious Mind? Here is an example of his thought: What is it that binds us together? It is not our needs. Neither is it commerce and great industries, nor the banks and the churches; these are just ideas and the result of ideas. Ideas do not bind us together. We may come together out of convenience, or through necessity, danger, hate, or worship, but none of these things holds us together. They must all fall away from us, so that we are alone. In this aloneness there is love, and it is love that holds us together. (From Commentaries on Living, Second Series). Highly Recommended.
