Set in Clifton Village on the outskirts of Bristol, Emmaus House welcomes guests to workshops, simply to stay for a retreat or to visit for quiet time.
Facilities include award-winning gardens and restaurant. There is a Chapel, newly refurbished Meditation Room and a small Art Room. Spiritual companionship is available for those who desire it. The Community here is noted for teaching the Enneagram in Helen Palmer’s narrative tradition, as well as offering Myers-Briggs training (MBTI®). It is an oasis in the midst of a busy world.
Open: All year except Christmas, Easter, and August Bank Holiday weekend. Open House (3-9 nights) for individually guided retreats in August. Receives men, women, groups, and non-retreatants. Rooms: 23 Singles, 10 convertible to twin, 7 en-suite. No smoking. No access after 10.30 pm each night.
Facilities: 4 conference rooms accommodating from 12 to 70 people, including TV, video player, OHP facilities, flipchart stand. Wireless internet access available in main Hall. PowerPoint projector for hire. Extensive gardens. Good restaurant – “Chez La Retraite”. Small car park.
Spiritual Help: Spiritual direction. Personal retreat direction. Counselling. Massage.
Guests Admitted to: Chapel, Meditation Room, guest areas and gardens.
Meals: Taken in restaurant. Excellent Southern Mediterranean cooking. Vegetarians and special diets. Much organic produce, home-grown where possible. Licensed for wine and beer.

Situation: In heart of lovely Clifton Village with its numerous shops, restaurants and cafes. Amount of noise depends on groups in house at any given time. Lovely views and pleasant neighbourhood.

Charges: Retreats £50 per 24 hours. Weekend workshops residential £145, non-residential £110. Quiet days of prayer with lunch £20 per person, with refreshments £12. Spiritual direction is available over a period of time but you should discuss donation fee arrangements for this service.
Access: Train: to Bristol Temple Meads, then taxi or no 8 bus from station to Clifton Village. Car: from north take M5, Exit 17, then A4018; from London take M4, Exit 20, then M5, Exit 19, followed by A369. Air: to Bristol International Airport, then regular Flyer coach service to Bristol Temple Meads or Bristol Coach Station. Full directions on website.
