Roman Catholic
One of the most famous monasteries in Europe. Open for all for retreats, it is also a place for men to make a private retreat in an atmosphere of monastic community life and prayer. A traditional monastic place in the countryside and yet not far from London, Reading or Oxford. In addition to facilities in the monastery for men and the retreat house for everyone else, there is a Pastoral Programme which organises the retreats, conferences, and events and a retreat house for both men and women (see below).

Open: All year except Christmas and mid-Aug to mid-Sept. Receives men, women, young people, families, groups.

Rooms: 15 single. 5 doubles. Dormitories. Hostel.

Facilities: Chapel. Choir. Conferences, park, library, guest lounge, payphone.

Spiritual Help: Personal talks.

Guests Admitted to: Chapel, choir, gardens.

Meals: Everyone eats together. Traditional food. Vegetarians. DIY facilities.

Special Activities: Planned retreats- see below.

Situation: Quiet and in the countryside.

Maximum Stay: A few days usually. Otherwise by arrangement with guest master.
